Deep Plane Facelift Recovery Timeline

Week-by-week recovery expectations.

Week 1

Most swelling and bruising occur in the first week. Head elevation, cold compresses, and prescribed medications support comfort. Drains, when used, are typically removed in this window.

Weeks 2–3

Sutures are removed. Bruising fades; swelling remains. Many patients feel comfortable in private settings.

Weeks 4–6

Most patients return to public activities and light work. Residual tightness and numbness are normal.

Months 3–6

Most swelling resolves. The result becomes increasingly visible. Scars continue to mature.

Months 6–12

Final scar maturation. Sensation continues to normalize.
