The Multidisciplinary Team

Facial surgery outcomes depend on more than one specialist.

Core Roles

  • Plastic surgeon — plans and performs the operation
  • Board-certified anesthesiologist — manages sedation or general anesthesia
  • Surgical nurses — sterile technique and intraoperative support
  • Recovery nurses — early post-op monitoring, drain and dressing care
  • Patient coordinator — logistics, education, and follow-up scheduling

Why This Matters

Complication rates in accredited facilities with a dedicated anesthesia team are lower than in poorly staffed environments. See Plastic Surgery Safety and Accreditation.
